Collection: Sega Genesis

Released in Japan in 1988 and in North America in 1989, the Sega Genesis sat at the heart of the 16-bit console war. In Europe and Japan the system was sold as the Mega Drive, while North America knew it as the Genesis. With Sonic the Hedgehog as its mascot, Sega quickly won over the video game players of the era.

Decades later, this 16-bit video game console still holds a place of its own in retro collections, and its cartridges remain some of the most searched-for in retro gaming. If you are looking for a Sega Genesis console, Retro MTL offers units that our team checks carefully before they are listed.

Sega Genesis Games: Which Titles Turn Up in the Selection?

Our selection brings together landmark Sega Genesis games such as Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Streets of Rage 2, alongside platformers, action and adventure titles, sports games and RPGs.

Looking for one game in particular? Check back often: the most sought-after Genesis titles tend to stay available for a short window only, and they rarely stay long once they are listed.

Sega Genesis Consoles and Accessories, Carefully Checked

Every Sega Genesis console and accessory is carefully checked by our team before it goes on sale. We test that the hardware runs, clean it, and carry out the work needed when that is appropriate.

As with any retro gaming hardware, a machine from this generation can show quirks tied to its age, whether it is a Model 1 or a Model 2. Each system is verified before it is listed. When controllers, cables, accessories or add-ons such as the Sega CD come in, they go through the same checks.
