Collection: Nintendo 3DS

The Nintendo 3DS left its mark on handheld consoles with its glasses-free 3D screen. Between its wide-ranging library and its many features, it is still a system that retro video game players hold on to. While you can easily turn off the 3D effect on the Nintendo 3DS, the Nintendo 2DS offers a budget-friendly alternative to enjoy the exact same game library in 2D.

The Nintendo 3DS, the Handheld System That Dared to Do 3D Without Glasses

Released in 2011, the Nintendo 3DS introduced an autostereoscopic 3D screen able to show depth with no glasses required. The top screen is where the games play out, while the lower touch screen handles menus, maps and, depending on the title, part of the gameplay. That two-screen setup is a big part of what this handheld system is.

For anyone who would rather play without the 3D effect, the Nintendo 2DS opens up the same library in a different shell.

A Nintendo 3DS Game Library That Still Holds Up

Successor to the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS hosted a long run of standout releases before the Nintendo Switch arrived. Think Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Fire Emblem Awakening, several Pokémon entries, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Metroid: Samus Returns and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

The Nintendo 3DS is also compatible with most Nintendo DS games, which widens the field again for collectors and retro gaming fans.
