Launched in 1995, the Virtual Boy is an atypical portable console designed by Nintendo to offer a 3D experience without glasses. Presented in the form of a headset to be placed on a table, it displayed games in red and black, with an immersive rendering... but sometimes difficult to bear. Despite its ambition, it was quickly criticized for its discomfort, its high price and a limited catalog, leading to its withdrawal from the market in less than a year. Among its notable games are Mario's Tennis, Virtual Boy Wario Land, Red Alarm and Teleroboxer, which illustrate well the originality and the limits of the machine. Now rare, the Virtual Boy is today a cult object, prized by collectors and fans of bold concepts.
