Retro MTL mascotte

Born from a collaboration between NEC and Hudson Soft, the PC Engine (known in America as the TurboGrafx-16) was launched in 1987 in Japan, and then in 1989 in North America. Despite a more modest reception here, it was a huge success in Japan. With games like Bonk's Adventure, R-Type, Lords of Thunder, and an impressive library of shoot 'em ups, the console became a favorite with collectors. It was also the first to offer an optional CD-ROM drive, paving the way for richer games and exceptionally high-quality soundtracks.
